State law sets one firm limit. Civil Code 4725 makes void any restriction that effectively bans a video or television antenna, including a satellite dish, of 36 inches or less. County jurisdiction

There is no city government. OC Development Services states that the County only requires business licenses for certain kinds of businesses, handled through the Sheriff’s Department, and that some home occupations are allowed in residential zones under the county zoning code.

Internet and power

The cable network in this part of the county was built by Cox and now operates as Spectrum, after Charter completed its acquisition of Cox in August 2026. Whether fiber or 5G home internet reaches a given street varies, so look up the address on the FCC National Broadband Map.

Coto de Caza sits in the foothills next to open space. Depending on the address, power comes from Southern California Edison or SDG&E, and both run public safety power shutoff programs for fire weather. SCE notes that a shutoff may last over 24 hours.
