Coastal Growth Co. handles the IT for Parker & Associates, Inc., a commercial real estate brokerage, and for properties the owners hold from Lake Arrowhead to Lake Forest. That covers the networks and Wi-Fi, Google Nest and other smart devices, smart locks, the website’s hosting, and the company email, which we moved from Network Solutions to Google Workspace.
The office and the properties all depend on working internet and Wi-Fi. We set up and look after those networks so staff, owners and connected devices stay online, and so there is one place to go when something stops working, whether the property is in Orange County or up in the San Bernardino Mountains.
Business Wi-Fi installationGoogle Nest devices and other smart home equipment run on those same networks. We connect them, keep them on the right account, and make sure the owners can still see and control them from their phones after a router, password or internet change.
Security cameras and smart techSmart locks let a property owner give someone a code or app access and remove it later without handing out or collecting physical keys. We set up and support the locks at the properties so access stays under the owners’ control.
Smart devices for businessThe company’s email ran on Network Solutions. We moved it to Google Workspace, Google’s business version of Gmail, Calendar and Drive, under the company’s own domain. A move like this means copying existing mail across, pointing the domain’s mail records at Google, and getting everyone signed in on their computers and phones.
How a Network Solutions to Google Workspace move worksWe host and maintain the brokerage’s website, alongside the rebuild and search work described in a separate case study. Keeping hosting, the domain, email and the network with one provider means changes to one do not quietly break another.
The website and search case studyEach property can have a different internet provider, router and set of smart devices. When one provider looks after all of them, the settings, accounts and access live in one place, and owners have one contact instead of a different installer for every site.
Connected devices remember the network name and password they were set up with. If the router or Wi-Fi password changes, each device has to be reconnected, so network changes are planned with the smart devices in mind rather than discovered later when a lock or thermostat goes offline.
It does not need to be. Existing messages are copied over, the domain’s mail (MX) records are switched once the new mailboxes are ready, and staff sign in to Gmail on their devices. The domain stays the same, so customers keep emailing the same addresses.
