The Tribute.
Five flags fly on the porch. One of them honors the Marines.
San Juan Capistrano is a Marine town. Camp Pendleton is twenty minutes south. The Hidden House family is a Marine family, and the shop carries a tribute to the Corps right on the porch where the coffee gets poured. Cold brew, cold foam, a quiet thank-you. That's the whole of it.

The Walk
Off the train. Onto the porch.
The San Juan Capistrano Amtrak depot sits two minutes' walk away. Step off, cross the tracks at the gate, follow the dirt sidewalk past the cactus garden, and the routed wooden sign appears on your right.
Order a pour-over. Sit on the porch. The next train comes through in about forty minutes. The whole town slows down when it passes.
