I · The Reason
A neighborhood needed a cafe for fresh, comforting food. So Susan made one.
Owner Susan Wahid puts it plainly: her passion for food comes from being a foodie herself. After searching for home comfort food, she realized South Orange County was in dire need of a cafe that serves fresh and quality comfort food. Rose Cafe opened in 2020 to be that place.
It is family-owned, and reviewers say it shows. The owner is kind and welcoming, they write, and she treats you like a friend. One guest drove forty-five minutes back just for the chai latte. Another wrote one of the longest reviews they had ever left, for the baklava and the coffee and the flowers on the patio.
The sign above the door is a rose blooming out of a coffee cup. It is the whole idea in one small mark: something fresh, grown with care, set down in front of you.
II · The Patio

The yellow umbrellas, the bistro chairs, the planters of pink and white. Parking right out front. It is the kind of patio you sit on a little longer than you meant to.
III · Two Lives
By day
Mornings and afternoons, Rose is a bright cafe. Fresh brioche french toast, croissant sandwiches, the lox bagel, fresh salads, and a pastry case glazed for the morning. Coffee and chai at the bar, on the heated, flower-lined patio.
By night
After seven, the room turns. The menu leans Mediterranean and the hookah lounge opens. The same warm welcome from the same family, later into the night, on the same lit patio.

IV · How We Run It
The reason the cafe exists. Brioche plated with fruit, croissant sandwiches built to order, a pastry case glazed in the morning. Comfort food, made fresh, in South Orange County.
